その後の表彰式に姿を見せたラファエル選手だったが、包帯で左腕を固定した状態だった。痛々しい姿ではあるが、喜びの笑顔で表彰を受けていた。のちにラファエル選手は、病院で治療を受けたと報じられている。

まさかの負傷に見舞われたラファエル選手だったが、4×100メートルリレーチームのメンバー入りも決めた。マキシム選手は、ラファエル選手について「彼はリレーのメンバーでもありますから、早く良くなるといいですね。彼はちょっとクレイジーなんだ。クレイジーだからこそ、彼は良い選手でもあるんですけどね。何も恐れていないし、これからもっと伸びると思います」と、若きオリンピック選手にエールを送っていた。
