葬儀当日、王配の棺が教会に到着するとウィリアム王子はヘンリー王子より先に入場して席に着いた。ヘンリー王子はウィリアム王子とキャサリン妃の真正面に座席したが、お互いに目を合わせることもなく視線は目の前にある棺に向けられていたという。

葬儀が終わった後、教会の外ではヘンリー王子がキャサリン妃と会話しながら歩く姿が目撃された。その後手前を歩いていたウィリアム王子が加わり、3人が並んで談話しながら坂を上っていった。

しばらくするとキャサリン妃が兄弟のそばを離れ、後ろを歩いていたソフィー妃と娘のレディ・ルイーズの元に加わった。するとウィリアム王子とヘンリー王子は2人だけになり、肩を並べて歩く姿が見られた。

ウィリアム王子はかつて、キャサリン妃のことを「兄弟の仲裁人」と表現したことがあった。妃の今回の素晴らしい配慮について、現地メディアは「家族の仲裁人」「ウィリアムとヘンリーの確執を鎮める」などとこぞって称賛している。
